At-home immunity shots: a quick and easy recipe packed full of nutrients

Save money from inflated pre-made prices and make your own immunity shots at home! Not only will it be more cost effective, but chances are you’ll include higher concentrations of the more effective ingredients, too.

Immunity shots are so easy to make at home! Powered by fresh ginger, turmeric and citrus, these will boost your immune system, reduce inflammation, speed up digestion and pack a powerful punch of antioxidants to fight free radicals in your body.

If possible, get organic ginger and turmeric. This will simplify the process of making them because you’ll be able to skip peeling off the skin and just chop up your roots. If you don’t have organic ginger and turmeric, it’s up to you, but I end up peeling off the skin before chopping them up.

Have a juicer? Great! Don’t have a juicer? You can throw these ingredients in your blender just fine. Play around with what amounts you prefer for yourself (I tend to change mine up each time based on current symptoms of brain fog, bloating, congestion or headaches to tailor to exactly what I need). To get you started, here is a simple and straightforward first recipe to try:

  • 1/4 c fresh turmeric, roughly chopped

  • 1/4 c fresh ginger, roughly chopped

  • 1/2 c water or coconut water

  • 1 large orange, without the peel

  • 1 large lemon, without the peel

  • 2 large pinches of black pepper

Juice or blend everything all together. Don’t forget the black pepper! Curcurmin, the beneficial bioactive compound in turmeric, needs black pepper to be fully absorbed by the body. If you blended your ingredients, you may choose to strain the mixture through a cheese cloth to remove the pulp.

Keep any leftovers in the fridge. (I like to scale the recipe and make enough for the week!)

What do you think, are you going to give these a try? I’d love to hear your thoughts on this recipe and what else you might add!
